How sharing information with others, saves us thousands of pounds

With this statement, two questions straightaway come to mind - what information should we share, and how much are we losing by maintaining the status quo of ignorance?

Let’s address the status quo first - Dr Lord of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute, reported that the consumption of ‘foods’ sold by the agrifood industry (meat, dairy, eggs and fishes) is responsible for over £200 billion in healthcare costs and loss of productivity, annually. The consumption of flesh and secretions of other beings, significantly increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and antimicrobial resistance. Harvard University also confirmed that one-third of early deaths could be prevented by keeping these so-called ‘food items’ off of our plates. Guess who’s paying for these healthcare bills? We all are, whether we consume them OR NOT - through our taxes, health insurance premiums and personal savings. And these costs keep rising every year.

These astronomical figures instantly made sense when a patient of mine recently informed me that her cancer treatment was costing the NHS £12,000 a week!

These ‘animal agriculture’ industries that forcibly breed, mutilate and kill around 3 trillion mothers and babies of different species every year, are also the leading cause of global deforestation and ocean death. This triple assault makes them responsible for over 85% of global greenhouse gas emissions, causing floods, fires, food failures and infrastructure damage with ever-increasing intensities and frequencies. Guess who’s paying for that? Once again, it is you and me, through annual increases in tax, home and business insurance premiums, with further depletion of our personal savings and future security.

The most frustrating aspect is that even when you are not ingesting animal body parts, you’re still writing cheques to pay for the healthcare bills of those who are, and the consequent global environmental devastation. While some people may not care despite you advising them, there are many who do cherish their health, longevity and the planet they are leaving behind to their children. Keep guiding them to websites like plantbasedhealthprofessionals.com and climatehealers.org to take educated ownership of their own health and survival.

By the way, there is a reason why there has never been enough focus on prevention - even within medical schools. The simple answer is that prevention does not make money for ‘big pharma’, ‘big banks’ and the government. And to make matters worse, every single government on the planet takes our hard-earned taxes and gives it to the meat, dairy, egg and fishing industries as ‘subsidies’ - lowering their costs of production and allowing them to sell carrion and bodily fluids at very low prices to a misled population. These subsidies globally add up to about $500 billion annually - causing calculable damages of 12-15 trillion dollars to health and the environment. (even if we collected every penny in the world, we would find it impossible to pay for a fraction of that cost). But how do we pay for the incalculable damages - the loss of million-year-old forests, coral reefs and the mass extinction of life on Earth, lost forever?

So, be the one that educates them - at least one person every day. Just last week, I was elated to discover that a couple of my patients visited the websites mentioned, examined the evidence for themselves, managed to reverse their type 2 diabetes and come off their cholesterol-reduction medication with a dramatic loss of excess weight, over a period of just 6 months.

It is each and every one of our responsibility to serve others and uplift society - When we know better, we do better. When we support others to shift from an animal (body parts) diet to wholefoods plantbased nutrition, they significantly decrease their risk of suffering and dying from chronic diseases. When enough people realise that they can prevent their own suffering and demise, the costs incurred by the healthcare system onto each and every one of us, also start to stagnate and fall. Not by the hundreds, but by the thousands.

And the savings, as a result of mitigating the extinction and climate emergencies, will be measured in millions of lives, and trillions of dollars. We have everything to lose by not speaking up when we should.
